verybody wants to feel better, play harder,
and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The lure of crisp
autumn weather and days filled with natural
color and sunshine energize us to get outside
and do what we love. F.I.T. (Functional
Intelligent Training) studio owner and coach
Adam Papendick in Kinnelon believes that everyone from
sports enthusiast to competitive athlete can learn to train
smarter, move faster, and feel better. As personal coach,
he offers a blended perspective on health and fitness
that focuses on proper form and progression to help
people enjoy outdoor activity. He encourages much
more than a weight-loss journey, and helps set realistic fitness goals designed to improve performance
on the playing field.
“Most movement and things we do every day
occur while standing on one leg. As we walk or
play golf and tennis, we transfer weight and
energy from one leg to another, typically from
one specific leg and one side,” Papendick
explains. He recommends exercises that
concentrate mostly on unilateral or single leg
movement like lunges, step ups, and single
leg deadlifts to enhance movement patterns
outside the gym. “All of these are unstable
exercises, so by training we produce stable
joints, which translates into power in
terms of lower body strength and development as we move throughout the day and
play any sport,” he says.
