The solo practitioner, who has had an office in Totowa
for four years, strives to provide the best level of individualized care to her patients. She prides herself on treating patients as if they are family members. Parent satisfaction and patient comfort are of utmost importance.
Dr. DeSimone’s practice involves a range of pediatric
dental treatments including sealants, fillings, space
maintainers and extractions. She also has expertise in
dealing with children who have special needs.
Dr. DeSimone takes the time to listen to parents’ concerns about their child’s dental health. In her practice
there is an emphasis on preventive care beginning at an
early age.
She cautions parents not to over-prepare their
children for a visit to the dentist, which can make a child
apprehensive. Dr. DeSimone enjoys answering children’s
questions and keeps the answers simple, yet honest.
Dr. DeSimone graduated from NYU College of
Dentistry. She completed her general practice residency
at Hackensack University Medical Center and her dental
anesthesia residency at Jacobi Medical Center. She also
completed a fellowship in Special Care Dentistry at the
Rose F. Kennedy/Montefiore Medical Center.
She completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry and served as chief resident of Pediatric Dentistry
at Staten Island University Hospital. Today,
Dr. DeSimone is director of Pediatric Dentistry at
St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. She is a member
of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is
Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. DeSimone has completed more residency training
than most pediatric dentists. As such, she is uniquely
qualified to offer a host of options for a patient’s care.
In her position as director of Pediatric Dentistry, she
keeps abreast of the most current diagnostic and treatment protocols. She notes that learning the technical
skills of dentistry and the patient care aspects go handin-hand, a point that she stresses to the dental residents
she lectures to and supervises at St. Joseph’s.
The pediatric dentist was raised in the area and notes
with pride that among her patients are the children of
people she grew up and went to school with.
Possessing an ebullient personality, Dr. DeSimone is
proud of the comfort level she instills in her patients.
Dr. DeSimone treats patients until they are college
age. She enjoys making a difference in the life of a child
and creating an atmosphere in which children look forward to visiting the dentist. She also enjoys the challenge of treating a wide range of dental health issues
and children’s behaviors in the chair.
