Dr. Cherise Dyal approaches the practice of orthopedics in a unique and comprehensive manner. With excellence and compassion, she treats patients as whole individuals and strives to achieve the best orthopedic care
for the return to their individual lifestyles.
Providing surgical and non-surgical treatment for the
foot, ankle, knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, wrist and hand,
her practice offers care for problems resulting from
arthritis, deformity, overuse, fractures, sports and traumatic injuries. In 1995, Dr. Dyal completed her fellowship
in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Hospital for Special
Surgery. Her impressive credentials began with a B.A.
degree with honors from Harvard University followed by
medical school at Yale University School of Medicine.
Recently, Dr. Dyal was awarded a Certificate of
Professional Achievement in Nutrition from Columbia
University.
“Treatment works best when patients follow a plan
that fits into their lifestyle. Family, career and activity
level all play a part in the particular type of orthopedic
treatment that will diminish pain, increase function and
allow patients to resume normal activities,” says Dr.
Dyal. “Treatment that addresses the whole individual is
the path that always brings the best results.”
And it is this philosophy that set in motion the opening of a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center. After
spending years treating patient’s problems, Dr. Dyal
became interested in the prevention of future issues or
further exacerbation of a current problem. Fittingly
called Synergy Fitness and Wellness, the center helps
achieve overall better health and wellness through an
individualized structured approach to exercise, nutrition
and lifestyle habits creating a whole that is greater than
the sum of its parts. “It has long been determined that
inactivity is the cause of many negative effects on all of
us. Basically, inactivity is a risk factor in our health,”
states Dr. Dyal, who serves as the facility's Medical
Director. “Many people start an exercise program, but
don’t stick it out. Synergy provides accountability
because members have an actual appointment and
make the journey with trained and motivating professionals.”
The program begins with a one-on-one evaluation to
determine individual goals. Each member is supervised
by a Certified Personal Trainer in small group or individualized sessions. With the medical oversight of Dr. Dyal,
a plan is developed in line with doctors' recommendations. In addition to a strength, cardio and flexibility
training regimen, metabolic testing is offered to determine exact caloric needs to help with nutrition and
weight loss plans.
Through the introduction of simple lifestyle changes
that incorporate safe, structured exercise, proper nutrition and healthy habits, patients can not only improve
orthopedic problems, but develop an overall better
quality of and more fulfilling life.
