The home buyer , an ear , nose and throat doctor , was in the market for aretreat that promised privacy and abundant views ofnature . In 2010 , he found just the right property at1,135 feet above sea level atop amountain in�innelon — 46acres ’ worth of property . The abundant granite on the site was incorporated into the 2,000-square-foot home ’ s exterior , and the new owner continued that theme through his two-year , �1 million renovation , which added 3,700 square feet to the house .

“ There was so much granite that it took one guy with an excavator and jack hammer two weeks to excavate stone for the two-car garage ,” says Ed Haines , the Long Beach Islandbased real estate agent who ismarket- ing the property . The homeowner had old trees removed , then replanted a greater number atadistance to create an expansive view that includes the New York City skyline . The views inside the residence are also pleasing at the end of along day .
