SHELTERING IN SPACE
(Left) The great room features soaring ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace set below solid slabs
of black granite and French doors that lead to an exterior deckonthe main level. Custom
wood built-ins store a TV, AV equipment and surround sound speakers. “Natural sunlight
pours in from morning to night,” says Baris. (Top) A railing of natural glass on the second floor
ensures that sunlight flows in unimpeded here, too. Natural woods and stones add warmth
that balances out modern elements. The foyer’s back wall of windows and French doors lead
to a back deck and lake view. (Above) The open kitchen has black granite counter tops,
custom cabinetry, granite flooring and a wall of windows in the eat-in portion of the room.
