From the desk of
I
t’s back-to-
school time,
and with it, a
fresh start. We
took that to
heart and, as
you may have already
noticed, updated the
look of the magazine. We hope you
like it! I also want to introduce you
to the new Wayne editor, Cindy
Schweich Handler.
In this issue, you’ll meet our cover
subject Nickolette Driesse, a Wayne
Hills alumna who was drafted by the
Orlando Pride this year. She plans to
“appreciate the moment, whether or
not I am in the starting lineup, com-
ing off the bench, or cheering on my
teammates from the sideline,” she
says. Find out more about her on
page 18.
Get your tissues ready when read-
ing our new Neighbors column. It
tells the story of Pompton Lakes’
Thomas Eliezer and Gerry Mead.
Eliezer is the recipient of Mead’s
late-wife Barbara’s heart. The two
families have become close, and
raise awareness together about
organ donation.
Focusing on school, “Raising
Learners in the Age of Social Media”
offers advice to parents on how their
children can be good students in an
age of 24-7 social media stimulation.
And our List page will help with
back-to-school shopping. Get your
checklist ready!
Our Home is located in Wayne,
and features stunning contemporary
interiors that are as eye-catching as
they are comfortable. Turn to page 38
and sneak a peek.
Cindy and I are going to work
together to bring you the very best
stories in the area. If there is a story
you’d like to see in the magazine, feel
free to send us an email at
[email protected]. We look
forward to hearing from you.
