By: Lisa Hoff man
Stroll the streets of downtown Waxhaw during Au-
tumn Treasures, our two-day event held Saturday,
October 14 from 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday, October
15 from 12 pm – 5 pm. Autumn Treasures, which
also hosts the Grill’n & Chill’n BBQ Cook-off , is our
biggest festival of the year, off ering a lively atmo-
sphere with a little something for everyone.
On Friday, you’ll notice the trailers with smok-
ers and grills and travel trailers start rolling into
downtown Waxhaw. Over 25 professional BBQ
teams which compete on the Kansas City Barbeque
Society circuit throughout the United States will
arrive in Waxhaw to compete for prize money and
state championship titles. The teams will cook all
night Friday evening and then beginning at 11 am on
Saturday will compete for best cooked chicken, pork
ribs, beef brisket and pork butt. Forty professional
judges that follow the KCBS BBQ circuit will judge
the competition.
