Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an
enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or
grow a business.
MANAGER’S MESSAGE
October marks the official start of fall events in Waxhaw, starting with Autumn Treasures
October 12th and 13th. This annual fall festival features musical entertainment and
performances, a kids zone complete with a petting zoo and rides, and the popular Grill’n &
Chill’n BBQ Cook-off. We hope you’ll join us in downtown Waxhaw! While there’s fun for
everyone in the family, we kindly ask that you leave your pets at home.
Pets mean a lot to us, and if you didn’t know, you are required to register your dog with the
Town of Waxhaw. This allows our Animal Control Officer to quickly and more easily find
your dog and bring them back home safely if they somehow got lost. The Waxhaw Police
Department has partnered with a program called PetData to make registering your dog
easier than ever. You can learn more about PetData on page 7.
Our friends at the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department are working on their annual National
Fire Prevention Week initiative. They are hosting an Open House at the Waxhaw Volunteer
Fire Department, 3500 Waxhaw Parkway, from 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, October 5th to
teach families how to plan a fire escape route in their homes.
The Waxhaw Code Enforcement team has been out and about making sure the Town of
Waxhaw remains a safe and beautiful place to live. If you’ve ever wondered what Code
Enforcement looks for when inspecting properties and buildings, you can learn more about
their work on pages 4-6. If you’re looking to beautify your own home by decluttering bulk
items, our annual Fall Clean-Up Day is Monday, October 14th. Please visit waxhaw.com for
bulk pick-up guidelines.
We’re looking forward to a beautiful fall season in Waxhaw, and hope to see you at the town’s
annual events this month.
