Waxhaw Happenings October 2018 | Page 2

WA X H AW ’ S V I S ION Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or grow a business. TOWN MANAGER’S MESSAGE The town recently held its annual Autumn Treasures fall festival. An estimated 15,000 people gathered in our downtown area to enjoy live entertainment, purchase goods from local vendors, and participate in activities all weekend long. These events are a great opportunity to connect with family, friends, and neighbors. You can learn more about this event and our Halloween fest, Fright Night, on pgs. 5-6. While Parks & Recreation has been hard at work on these events, our Public Services department has been busy with our annual Fall Clean-Up Day and innovating their services offered. Two of their staff members recently became certified to perform state inspections on town-owned vehicles, which will save the town time and money. Learn more about their certification on page 4. If you’d like to stay in the know of town events and happenings, I encourage you to attend Board of Commissioners meetings every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Read Mayor Maher’s recap of the October 9th meeting, including a link to the itemized town budget, on page 7. Thank you for participating in the events that make our town great, and for supporting our staff as they continue to service the community in innovative ways.
