Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an
enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or
grow a business.
TOWN MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Summertime is well underway in Waxhaw! Now that school is out, you’ll find teenagers and
young families out and about enjoying the beautiful weather. Not sure what your summer
plans are yet? I encourage you to browse this month’s programs on page 4 and find an
activity for everyone in your family. Our Parks & Recreation team has been hard at work
putting these programs together, so we hope you will take a look and find something new to
try.
Our Fourth of July Celebration is just around the corner. We are excited to hold our annual
parade for the 30th year. This past Fall, the Board of Commissioners made the decision
to suspend this year’s fireworks display while staff works to find a safer alternative for the
display. You can read more about this decision on page 6.
If you’re artistically inclined, we have another activity to keep you busy. We are currently
running a photo contest celebrating Waxhaw’s 130th birthday, just in time for our Fourth
of July parade. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive gifts from local businesses
and will be announced at the annual Fourth of July parade. Whether you’re an amateur or
a professional, we want to see your work! You can learn more and find out how to enter on
page 5.
If you’re interested in getting involved with the town in a leadership role, there is an open
vacancy on the Waxhaw Board of Commissioners. This is a great opportunity to explore a
commissioner role without committing to a full term. Find out the qualifications and how to
apply on page 7.
We look forward to seeing our residents spending more time outside, both downtown along
our Great Main Street and throughout Waxhaw’s parks and playgrounds.
