A Letter from the Mayor
2018-19 BUDGET PROPOSAL RECAP
On Tuesday May 22, 2018, the
Waxhaw Board of Commissioners
conducted both a work session and
our regularly scheduled business
meeting. Both sessions discussed
the 2018/19 Fiscal year Budget.
In preparation of the proposed
budget, over $600K in expenses
was cut by the Town Manager
resulting in a 3% decrease in year-
to-year operating expenses.
The proposed budget primarily
focuses on traffic and infrastructure
improvements. It includes
a proposed $25 vehicle fee,
specifically authorized by state law
that can only be used for transportation projects and cannot be increased. In lieu of the $80
solid waste fee, the BOC discussed a 2.5-cent tax increase, which would allow Waxhaw to
operate the town without using our savings account as Waxhaw has historically done.
The budget as proposed provides for transportation improvements, and allows the town to
begin the financial planning for future capital projects like parks, facilities, etc.…). The budget
will be voted on June 12th
