Waxhaw Happenings February 2020 | Page 4

Meet Administrative Assistant/Cemetery Manager PAULA EZZELL The Town of Waxhaw is pleased to introduce the community to one of our newest staff members, Paula Ezzell. Paula joined the Waxhaw team in December of 2019 as an Administrative Assistant/Cemetery Manager. You might have already had the opportunity to speak with Paula if you have reached out to the Public Services Office. In addition to providing administrative support to the Public Services Director and providing information to residents, she also coordinates with the staff at Waste Pro - Waxhaw’s trash, recycling and yard debris pick-up contractor. It is through Paula’s communication efforts that these processes run smoothly, ensuring that each resident is provided quality service. There are more than 6,300 households in the town of Waxhaw. Because of this, the Public Services Department can be very busy, but Paula enjoys interacting with the community. In fact, it was one of her main motivators for returning to work after taking a brief professional hiatus to care for her ailing father-in-law. When asked about the most exciting aspect of her role so far, Paula spoke to her involvement with Waxhaw’s Wreaths Across America Ceremony. This is an event she had attended in the past to honor her father-in-law who was a Navy Veteran. Representing the Town of Waxhaw as a staff member brought an extra sense of pride after helping to identify each veteran’s grave site in preparation for the event. Paula would like the community to know, “the men that I work with at the Public Services Department are dedicated to the Town and work very hard to ensure that the appearance of the town is maintained and the needs of the citizens are met.” She has enjoyed getting to know her coworkers and feels blessed to be able to work with them. Welcome to the Town of Waxhaw, Paula!
