The 411 on Waxhaw 101
When Town Manager Greg Ferguson joined the Town of Waxhaw in 2017, he expressed
the need for a civic education program for residents to learn more about the town. The
Town of Waxhaw needed a way to showcase all of the programs and services we offer,
and highlight how these services might differ from state to state.
Town Manager Ferguson organized a team of Waxhaw staff members to design and
organize the program, and the group hosted the inaugural Waxhaw 101 class in Spring
2018. This class was composed of 15 Waxhaw residents who were able to meet town
staff, learn about town services, and ask questions in a group setting.
Kelley Currie, Assistant to the Town Manager and Deputy Clerk, surveyed the 2018
participants after the 8-week course. “The participants were extremely happy with the
content of the information and how it was presented,” she reported. “We are excited to
get to know another group of residents and find out what matters to them,” Currie told
