Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an
enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or
grow a business.
TOWN MANAGER’S MESSAGE
The past few weeks have posed many challenges to our community here in Waxhaw.
As schools have closed, employees have shifted to working from home or have lost their
jobs altogether, and some resources have become scarce, it is normal to feel anxious and
stressed about an uncertain future.
And yet, something positive is happening in our community. Families are spending more
time together than they have in a while. Individuals are prioritizing communication and
learning virtual platforms that make connections possible right now. We’ve embraced just
how valuable our local teachers, grocery store employees, and medical professionals are.
Waxhaw staff has quickly risen to the challenge of working remotely to continue to serve
our community.
This week, I was appointed Town Manager of Waxhaw and have been given the opportunity
to lead Waxhaw through this uncertain time. When I was hired as the Planning Director
for the town in May 2019, I was able to learn residents’ needs and priorities through
public input sessions and surveys. I led and collaborated with Waxhaw staff to figure out
how we can address these needs in the coming years. I plan to continue learning what
our community needs and working closely with staff and the Board of Commissioners to
address them.
Of course, first and foremost, we must get past these trying times in dealing with the
COVID-19 pandemic. I know this situation puts a lot of stress on everyone, and this
situation will continue to remain fluid for the foreseeable future. But we will come out
stronger once this subsides. We will continue to operate and provide customer service as
best we can in a responsible manner using guidance from the state, county, and our own
expertise.
