Waxhaw Happenings April 2019 | Page 2

WA X H AW ’ S V I S ION Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or grow a business. TOWN MANAGER’S MESSAGE It’s been a busy Spring season for the Town of Waxhaw. Our events kick off next month with Jammin’ By The Tracks on May 3rd at 7:00 PM under the water tower, Blue Light Sk8 Night at 6:00 PM at the Waxhaw Sk8 Park that same night, and Kaleidoscope Fest on May 18th from 10 AM to 5 PM downtown. We won’t brush past April, though - there are lots of Parks & Rec programs planned for this month. You can view the full calendar on page 6. Our team over at Town Hall has had some great new additions, including Staff Engineer Kevin Parker, who joined us in February. Kevin is working on our traffic and transportation related projects, which are helping to address some of Waxhaw’s biggest needs. In the last month, we’ve also addressed parking needs downtown by paving and painting six brand new spots on N. Church Street. You can view an updated downtown public parking map on page 4. We’ve gotten a lot of questions about the YMCA coming to Waxhaw, and we’re pleased to report that we have some updates. You can learn about the newest timeline for planning and construction of this project on page 5. We hope to see you out and about in Waxhaw enjoying all that our town has to offer.
