Waxhaw Happenings April 2018 | страница 2

WA X H AW ’ S V I S ION Waxhaw is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous town where history and creativity build an enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play or grow a business. TOWN MANAGER’S MESSAGE It’s Spring Break for a lot of Waxhaw families, and the downtown area is buzzing. Kids and their families are out walking, playing, and taking advantage of all the small businesses that we have downtown. Classes are wrapping up and summer is just around the corner. In Town Hall, we are almost finished with our own class project: a civic engagement course called Waxhaw 101. It has been incredible to see the eagerness of our residents to learn more about town staff and their responsibilities, and I’m thankful that our first run has been so successful. You can learn more about Waxhaw 101 on page 4. Our Board of Commissioners has been busy as well, reviewing budget items and addressing their priorities and the town’s needs over the last few months. These include approving the Parks & Recreation Master Plan proposal (pg. 5) and reviewing noise ordinances to accomodate our downtown residents. You can read up on their accomplishments and teamwork on page 6. Speaking of teamwork, I want to take this time to ackowledge the hard work of our Public Services Department. Public Services is responsible for the grounds maintenance, cemetery management, and overseeing various projects in the town. In an effort to bring our town together to preserve our community, Public Services is organizing a Litter Sweep event on April 28th. Grab your neighbors (and kids 12 & up!) and meet up with fellow residents to clean up one of Waxhaw’s streets. You can learn more about how to get involved on page 5. I hope you and your families had a restful, sunny, and safe Spring Break. Welcome back! Greg Ferguson Greg Ferguson Town Manager [email protected]
