Marian Muthui receives the
community leadership award
UNLEASHING GIRL POWER

M
arian Muthui, a graduate mechan-
ical engineer from the University
of Nairobi, has already created for
herself a leadership position at the age of
26 years.
She is the founder of the Mekatilili
Program, named after Mekatilili wa
Menza, a Giriama female warrior famed
for her courage in fighting colonialists.
The program facilitates workshops in var-
ious secondary schools in Kenya using a
progressive curriculum. She was named
the 2016 Women in Energy winner,
Community Leadership category.
