Information for Watertown residents

UTILITY BILLING
Utility services are billed on a monthly basis. Bills are mailed out by the 1st of each month and payment is due by the 15th. Payments received after the 15th of the month incur a 10 % late fee. Payments can be mailed, dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours, or placed in the Citizens Alliance Bank night deposit box located at 200 Lewis Avenue S, Watertown, MN 55388. For added convenience, the city offers a free automatic debit / direct pay through the city. You will still receive a bill copy in the mail but payment will automatically be debited on the 15th of each month until you opt out.
BUILDING PERMITS
The city’ s Building Department is responsible for building plan review and building inspections within our community. Watertown’ s inspectors are responsible for commercial and residential construction plan review, inspections during construction, and permit tracking. Questions regarding building permits can be directed to MNSPECT at 952-442-7520 or City Hall at 952-955-2681.
Permits are required for the following building / remodeling projects: new construction, remodel / additions, basement finish, plumbing / mechanical replacement, deck, reroofing, residing, window / door replacement, fences / accessory structures, swimming pools, retaining walls, irrigations systems. To arrange for an inspection, call 952-442-2761 at least 24 hours in advance.
DOGS AND CATS
Pets must be leashed when off of the owner’ s property. Dogs running at large will be picked up and impounded. Owners will be required to pay a fine at City Hall. There may be additional pick-up / boarding fees at the kennel.
TRASH COLLECTION
Watertown contracts with Republic Services. From April through November, free yard waste collection is also available.
