Information for Watertown residents

UTILITY BILLING
Utility services are billed on a monthly basis . Bills are mailed out by the 1st of each month and payment is due by the 15th . Payments received after the 15th of the month incur a 10 % late fee . Payments can be mailed , dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours , or placed in the Citizens Alliance Bank night deposit box located at 200 Lewis Avenue S , Watertown , MN 55388Payments can be mailed , dropped off at city hall during regular business hours , or placed in the Citizens Alliance Bank ( 200 Lewis Ave . For added convenience , the city offers a free automatic debit / direct pay through the city . You will still receive a bill copy in the mail but payment will automatically be debited on the 15th of each month until you opt out .
BUILDING PERMITS
The city ’ s Building Department is responsible for building plan review and building inspections within our community . Watertown ’ s inspectors are responsible for commercial and residential construction plan review , inspections during construction , and permit tracking . Questions regarding building permits can be directed to MNSPECT at 952-442-7520 or City Hall at 952-955-2681 .
Permits are required for the following building / remodeling projects : new construction , remodel / additions , basement finish , plumbing / mechanical replacement , deck , reroofing , residing , window / door replacement , fences / accessory structures , swimming pools , retaining walls , irrigations systems . To arrange for an inspection , call 952-442-2761 at least 24 hours in advance .
DOGS AND CATS
Pets must be leashed when off of the owner ’ s property . Dogs running at large will be picked up and impounded . Owners will be required to pay a fine at City Hall . There may be additional pick-up / boarding fees at the kennel .
TRASH COLLECTION
Watertown contracts with Republic Services . From April through November , free yard waste collection is also available .
