FIRE SERVICES
The cities of Watertown , Mayer and other surrounding cities all have their own fire departments which serve their respective cities and assist on calls with the local townships and other cities .
The Watertown Fire Department ’ s current fire station is located at 401 Carter Street .
The department provides fire and rescue protection for a 52-square mile area encompassing parts of four townships in two counties , the city of Watertown , plus a section of the South Fork of the Crow River .
The Watertown Department has been utilizing a new duty officer and command vehicle program in recent years , which has drastically reduced response times . The members of the Mayer Volunteer Fire Department are on-call around the clock . Chief Andy Maetzold runs the department and the fire station is located at 400 Ash Avenue N ( 952-657-2227 ).
The department is always looking for individuals who
would like to serve their community in this vital role . Applications are currently being accepted for a waiting list to be a member and are available at Mayer Lumber .

POLICE SERVICES
The cities of Watertown , Mayer and surrounding cities and townships ( located in Carver County ) receive police service from the Carver County Sheriff ’ s Office . Watertown and Mayer employ the services of a town officer , a specific deputy assigned to each city .
The sheriff department ’ s primary concern is the safety and well-being of all persons and property in Carver County . Jason Kamerud is the sheriff . The sheriff ’ s office is located at the Carver County Government Center complex in Chaska , at 606 East Fourth Street .
