Water Sustainability Symposium
To manage water resource scarcity in a sustainable manner, the Water Sustainability Symposium aims to discuss how to turn challenges into opportunities. The symposium, hosted by the Water Reuse, Membrane Technology, and Water Science divisions of WISA, aims to bring together researchers and professionals to address water scarcity within southern Africa. Parallel sessions will focus on the following topics: water reuse, desalination, latest technologies, social concerns, water quality monitoring, and emerging pollutants. A speciality workshop entitled“ Direct and Indirect Potable Reuse: Overview of Principles, Applications and New Developments” will be presented by Troy Walker( US) and Chris Swartz( RSA). It will provide attendees with a better understanding of known and unknown contaminants management within potable reuse facilities, and will discuss the latest innovation and thinking in operator training and risk mitigation. 7 to 10 May Lord Charles Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa www. wisa. org. za
XVI World Water Congress
The objective of the XVI World Water Congress is to bridge gaps in knowledge, communication, and coordination. It specifically aims to link professionals with information and experiences related to water resources at all levels, with experts working on key global water agendas and strategies. Accordingly, the Congress is targeted at natural and social scientists, practitioners, and technological innovators, as well as policy and decisionmakers, financial stakeholders and investors, legal and regulatory specialists, and groups involved in capacity building. Additionally, the Congress is designed to catalyse cooperation and coordination among these professionals to facilitate global goals and strategies related to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to water, as well as agreements under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, thematic priorities of past and upcoming World Water Forums, and other water-related programmes. 29 May to 3 June Cancun, Mexico www. worldwatercongress. com

LESAM 2017
The Leading Edge Sustainable Asset Management( LESAM) of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Conference will be jointly organised by IWA, the national association Norwegian Water, the municipality of the city of Trondheim, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology( NTNU). The conference is an opportunity to meet world-leading professionals of urban water services: water supply, wastewater management, and stormwater management.
