WATERNOW ALLIANCE IMPACT
Commisioner Francesca Vietor’s exemplary leadership
in establishing San Francisco’s Non-potable Water
Program was recognized at the WaterNow Alliance
Summit in March 2018. She received the Water
Now Alliance Impact Award for her leadership in
rethinking traditional approaches to water resources
management and accelerating innovative and
sustainable water solutions in San Francisco.
UTILITY OF THE FUTURE TODAY AWARD
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission
was selected as a recipient of the Utility of the
Future Today Award for 2017. San Francisco’s Non-
potable Water Program was recognized for its
success, innovation, and forward-thinking practices in
advancing water reuse.
DATA AND INNOVATION AWARD
The inter-agency team behind Sustainable
Chinatown received a 2017 Data and Innovation
Award from the Mayor’s Office of Civic Innovation
and DataSF. Fan Lau of the Water Resources Division,
in collaboration with the Planning Department,
provided water consumption data analyses to assess
the consumption baseline and map consumption
levels throughout the neighborhood. This work
culminated in a visually appealing and engaging
data clearinghouse for the Chinatown community.
