Anna Cashon American Rock Crawling Race #2 This past weekend, hundreds of people rolled into Wheelin’ in the Country in Summertown, Tennessee for the 2nd American Rock Crawling Race of the season! This race was particularly special because I would be racing in the Powderpuff race that afternoon; very exciting! Ty Turner, who runs these events called us all for our driver’s meeting at 9am that morning, where he had a chaplain who had grown up in the racing world to give us a devotion before we went out to the course. Then of course, Ty threw numbers in the hat and everyone drew numbers to get their line up on who would hit the course first. Those racing Powderpuff however, didn’t have to draw numbers; we just lined up and went as is. After getting the numbers, everyone hopped in their rigs and proceeded in line towards the course to get ready for the main event. The course was a newer course that hadn’t been used in a race before. It was rather long and was made up of 5 different climbs throughout the course (The Powderpuff racers would only conquer the first 2 hills of this course). The first two weren’t too bad, but once you got to the last three the struggle was real. Although there were few places where people had gotten hung up, this was more of a precision course instead of strictly for speed. Lots of trees, and turns combined made this course challenging in some ways. There was only one roll over in the regular race and one roll over during the Powderpuff race, and if you know anything about rock bouncing, then that’s not a normal thing! Like I said though, this course was mostly a precision course and you really got to see the skill come out in the drivers. 28 April 2014
