Race Action at Rausch Creek OHV Round 1 of the 2014 Line Mountain 4 Wheelers series Championship & RCrocs Race series kicked off at the Rausch Creek off-road Park, April 11th. After a long cold winter in the northeast racers and fans were ready to start the race season. The 1st race of the year was critical for drivers who are chasing the championship to start the year off on the right foot. 124 Drivers raced 5 laps on a 9.5 mile track. Rai n Friday afternoon would add some slick and in some areas very thick mud to the track. After nearly 2 hours of racing Tim Diekman of Marlton NJ claimed the Long Wheel Base class and Overall Win, beating out Tim Smoluk of Langhorne,Pa., by 1 minute and 10 seconds. Howie Zulauf ran fast and consistent completing all 5 laps in the 23 minute range, taking 3rd place in the long wheel base class and 4th Over All. In the 8 cyl class Josh Blyler of Klingerstown,Pa., took home the win, out pacing 2nd Place finisher, Mike Rauch by over 7 minutes. Jared Erdman was leading the class at the end of 3 laps but cut a tire on the 4th lap. A quick tire change kept him in the top 3. Alexander Kose became faster every lap, surpassing George Holmes, for the win in the 6cyl class. Steve Woodring lead after lap 1 but a 29 minute lap 2 would knock him off a winning pace to to a 3rd place finish. Justin Kosmer from Dornsife,Pa., led all 5 laps in the 4 cyl class, mounting an unbelievable time gap between him and Jeremy Ricker of Lykens,Pa., by over 40 minutes to claim the victory. Zayne Gray of Allentown,Pa. proved he will be a young driver to watch in the 4 cyl class taking 3rd place in his 1st race. In the 4x4 Unlimited Class, Dan Schankweiler took the lead from Sierra Erdman on lap 2 and never looked back taking the win. Angelo Pascale from Pischtaway NJ fought his way from 6th on lap 1 to 3rd on for the last step on the podium. Jordan Poploskie of Shamokin beat out 20 tough drivers in the very competitive Modified buggy class to take the win and 5th Overall. Liam O’donnel who normally competes in a 4 wheel drive, proved he can be fast in 2 wheel drive to finish 2nd in class. Craig Fegley a mod class veteran used his experience to claim a 3rd place finish. Wyatt Kerstetter won the stock buggy class by an 1hr and 20 minutes. Goerge Wallish took home 2nd. Cole Fegley Lead all the way up to the last lap when a mechanical issue took away the win with less than 2 miles to go before the finish. Round 2 of the RCrocs race series will be May 10 at Rausch Creek Off Road Park. Round 2 for the Line Mountain Points series will be in Dornsife Pa on June 7.
