Faulkner Racing is a family based
organization centered around the
patriarch/driver, Wayne Faulkner and
his two co-driving sons, 19 year old
Robbie and 15 year old Jonathan, all
out of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Wayne “The Insane” Faulkner grew
up going to the International Willys
Jeep Derbies held in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The first
derby held was in 1956 during the
Ralph Edwards Fiesta. This derby race
predated the Baja 1000 (October 31,
1967) and the Mint 400 (1967) by 11
years. The race eventually moved on
and died out but Wayne’s passion for
desert racing didn’t.
Wayne built sprint cars for several
years and traveled with desert racing
teams into Mexico in his teens and
twenties. But it was after surviving
colon cancer that Wayne decided to
enter the desert racing arena as a
driver. In 2009, Wayne purchased a
class 9 buggy to create a new lease
on life for himself and his sons. Since
then they have invested a lot of time
and money in preparing this “9 car”
for its intended purpose…desert
racing.
