Many of the Drivers were overheard saying that this Course in the Pa. Mts. was as brutal as any they have ever been on. Bill Baird was cruising at 70 mph before he crashed, breaking a front A-arm on the race car, becoming one of the 19 Race cars that did not cross the Finish line. Out of a Field of 30 Race Teams, nearly two thirds fell victim to the“ wickedness” that this Course was serving on this Day. A testament to Shannon Campbell and Derek West’ s’ Character in particular, and the“ norm” of this close knit“ Family” of Racers. They helped Team Murphy’ s Law near the Finish line. I’ ll let their words tell the story.“ Hard day of racing for sure today. We broke a front axle shaft early in the first lap. Jon retrieved our spare axle in the pits and we were able get underway. Not long after that we rolled over but were able to self-recover. The rest of the race was uneventful until the last 60 yards. The front driver’ s side link mount tore of the chassis. Thanks to Derek west and Shannon Campbell’ s help we finished 6th.“ Derek West was Atop the Podium, Erik Miller in 2nd, and Shannon Campbell with 3rd.
