Keystone Offroad Club
Keystone Off Road Club started out as a few friends who enjoyed going off road to challenge themselves and their rides. In August of 2012 we organized and started a website and a Facebook page, the response from fans was tremendous and from there we grew to 25 members in six months and became a state wide club, with members between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Pa, KORC is centrally located in Lewistown, Pa. We don’ t yet have mandatory meetings because with members scattered across the state it’ s impossible. We communicate by newsletters and a private page on Facebook where we plan our rides. We try to keep the club loosely structured because we know that most people don’ t want to be in a club with lots of chiefs and few Indians, keeping it informal keeps it fun. Our goal is to build an organization that’ s sole mission is to support the club with the profits. I got this idea when I lived and wheeled in Southern California. I thought it would be so cool if an off road vendor had a club that off road enthusiast could join. Having a club with plenty funds would allow a club to have a own race team or off road park or even support members who wished to go to Moab for Easter Safari or to the Rubicon Trail. We aren’ t foolish enough that a guy could join our club in March and then ask to be financially supported in April to go to Moab, there will be stipulations and requirements to meet in order to go as a club representative. KORC is still in the process of setting up a store selling apparel and hard goods such as rock sliders and lockers. So watch for our store to be opened soon and please support us so that we can support our members in a big way. Our club is built to give back to the member from the minute they join the club with discounts at off road vendors, restaurants, auto parts stores and even memberships into two off road associations. KORC doesn’ t make a profit from membership dues because we think that’ s wrong, we want you to get something form your money.
We go to Rausch Creek Off Road Park often since it is closest to us and centrally located. As we grow we will expand around the state to other off road destinations. Besides the planned club excursions to Rausch Creek, many of us go there on a whim just because we love to wheel and can’ t wait for the next planned trip. We also have a state park minutes from us that we like to ride. Most of us are into rock crawling but there are some who love to go mudding and if that’ s your thing then join up and we will have more mudding events. If you keep up with us on Facebook there is usually a post saying some of us are going down there for the weekend and you are welcome to meet us there. Keystone Off Road Club will be at PA Jeeps All Breeds Jeep Show in York, Pa this year, so if your there please come see us. As KORC grows we will attend more events around the state and out of state. Charities are hard for us to pull off because we don’ t have enough members to support one. But in the future when we do have enough members we certainly will get involved in helping out communities, as stated, KORC gives back.
