Today

As our footprint has grown, so has our employee base. Today, Washington Trust employs more than 650 employees, who take care of our customers and communities every day throughout our offices in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Washington Trust and its employees remain committed to providing what our original bank charter called“ Those little assistances from time to time, which banks only can give.”

Community Support

Since our founding in 1800, Washington Trust has been supporting people’ s dreams by serving not only as a trusted financial partner, but as a good neighbor as well. Each year, the Bank invests over $ 1 million and more than 8,000 volunteer hours to nonprofit and community organizations that are dedicated to helping our neighbors thrive.
The bank’ s charitable efforts focus on three key areas: economic empowerment and financial wellness; safe and affordable housing; and basic needs and family services:
• By spearheading financial literacy programs and offering resources for economic empowerment, Washington Trust supports individuals and families on their journeys to financial stability.
• As a housing partner, Washington Trust not only helps Rhode Islanders realize their dream of homeownership through its RI Community Lending program, but also lends support to projects that ensure safe and affordable living conditions for all community members.
• Through collaboration with various community partners, such as hunger relief agencies and health and human services providers, Washington Trust helps provide access to basic necessities and family services to those in need.
At Washington Trust, what we value is you. As we begin our 225 th year as a local, Rhode Island business, Washington Trust will continue to play a vital role in enhancing our neighbors’ quality of life and making a meaningful difference in the places we live and work.
