WEIGHING -IN E on Her Mother’s Dedicated Service to the WCSPCA very year thousands of animals make their way into the care of the Washington County SPCA. Upon intake, each is briefly examined, vaccinated, photographed and entered into the shelter software: PetPoint. When the shelter started using PetPoint, an extensive amount of data began being tracked in the medical records of each animal. One such bit of data is the weight of the animal. An accurate weight dictates treatments, feeding schedule and serves as a baseline for monitoring the animals health as they stay in the care of the WCSPCA. Everything at the WCSPCA withstands a lot of wear and tear. The weight scales are not immune to this. Months ago, the old weight scales broke and were beyond repair. The state of the art scales made by Shor-Line that had been specified WCSPCA Staff member, Brittany, weighing dog during an intake exam for use in the new facility, were much nicer than the old equipment. They were nicer and unfortunately more expensive than the shelter could afford. A plea was put out for funding Weeks later, an out of state donation arrived - a check for $1,000. A note was attached from Melissa Wille, the daughter of a Washington County SPCA Board Member - Donna Gustafson. In honor of her mother’s dedicated service to the WCSPCA she asked that the state of the art weight scales be purchased. “This donation of new scales is extremely valuable to our shelter,” said WCSPCA Interim Director of Special Projects, Dawnette Brady. “We are very grateful to Donna Gustafson for her service and to her daughter’s generosity and support.” Would you like to honor a family member, friend or pet?
