and a child shall lead them
...and so the story goes.
During March a group of children
at Dewey Elementary School helped gather much needed
supplies for the Washington County SPCA.
Dewey
Elementary is competing in the A+ Rewards Contest
sponsored by the Washington Park Mall.
For their
Community Service Project, the group contacted
Shelter Manager, Amber Farr for a Wish List.
Caring for 150 - 250 animals every day, we
are always in need of supplies.(think 104 dog
kennels - every day of every week of every
month each year).
We are constantly in need
of Dawn detergent, bleach, paper towels, canned
pate’ dog and cat food, toys, hand sanitizer,
batteries....the list goes on.
The drive ran
for two weeks and the school collected an
amazing number of items on our Wish List
These future community leaders have set
a great example for Washington County
- GREAT JOB and a huge THANK YOU!
‘“GI Wishes - A pet for a Vet” is an
organization created to form alliances with rescue
groups, veterans organizations, the National Guard
and veterinarians in order to fulfill the mission of
matching rescue animals with veterans’ - so says
the home page for GIWishes.org.
Imagine our
excitement when we were approached to match
one of our star adoptees with a true American
HERO! The pictures show an American Military
Hero finding his match.
The Washington County SPCA is constantly
looking for partners in the Animal Welfare world.
We think it is important to work together to find
the best possible solutions to the problems that we
face every day - too many unwanted pets for too few
loving homes!
Your support helps with staffing time needed to
forge these lasting relationships. Each Veteran will receive
a free ID tag and a discount on Life’s Abundance food.
