HEAVY LIFTING FOR A STRONGER COMMUNITY .
Lampson International makes really big cranes , including the gigantic Transi-Lift that spans the length of one and two-thirds football fields and lifts 3,000 tons . With 300 mobile cranes worldwide , they are making a huge impact on the global construction industry . But back at home in the Tri-Cities , Lampson is doing heavy lifting of a different kind .
For more than 50 years , Lampson has donated the cranes that lift hydroplane racing boats in and out of the Columbia River during the annual Columbia Cup , supporting an event that infuses millions of dollars into Tri-City communities .
A third-generation family-owned business , Lampson has deep roots in the Tri-Cities . When it came time to upgrade Kennewick High School ’ s football stadium , Lampson donated cranes to help get the job done .
Lampson ’ s success , and their ability to support working families and their community , is heavily impacted by the regulatory environment in Washington state . “ There is so much red tape , it takes a long time to get anything permitted ,” says Kate Lampson , director of public relations and communications . “ And , when you ’ re in our industry , you need to be able to react quickly to your customers to stay competitive and create jobs .”
