washington business Sustainability on Paper Utilizing recycling and sourcing of renewable and responsible fiber products, Port Townsend Paper Corporation has turned a paper manufacturer into an environmental leader. employer: Port Townsend Paper Corporation location: Port Townsend number of employees: 300 product: Port Townsend Paper Corporation produces Kraft pulp, paper, containerboard, and specialty products by blending virgin and recycled fibers at their Port Townsend mill. innovative environmental stewardship: Port Townsend Paper recycles the equivalent of 30 percent of Washington’s collection of recycled cardboard each year at its onsite recycling facility — roughly the size equivalent to a football field 10 feet deep each week. This recycling facility provides the mill with more than 300 tons of recycled pulp daily. The paper produced, in turn, is recyclable, extending the chain of sustainability. Paper not made up of recycled materials is made with fiber sourced from certified and sustainable forestry operations. The company is also an emissions reduction leader.
