AWB’s Annual Federal Affairs Summit
Scheduled for Aug. 19-20
AWB’s 2019 Federal
Affairs Summit is
scheduled for Aug.
19-20 in Richland.
This is a chance
for Washington employers to connect with the state’s
Congressional delegation on the issues that matter most,
like international trade, immigration and irrigation from the
Columbia River, for example.
The event will be hosted by Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory, in Discovery Hall. Visit www.awb.org and watch
Fast Facts for more information.
AWB’s Grassroots Coalition
Sends Strong Message to
Lawmakers
AWB worked with local chambers
of commerce this spring to publish
a series of newspaper ads that
challenged state lawmakers to
balance the budget without raising
new taxes. The ads highlighted
the state’s record revenue growth,
which topped $5.6 billion, and
drew attention across the state in
key legislative districts.
New Hires in AWB Events Department
Carly Michael has been named AWB’s new Director of Member
Relations & Events and Stacie Neiswanger is the new Member
Relations Manager.
Michael has an extensive background in events management and
marketing, serving most recently as chief operating officer for
Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program at
Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield in Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Prior to that, she was marketing director for the Family & MWR
program at Fort Stewart and commercial sponsorship director
at Joint Base San Antonio.
She spent eight years at Joint Base Lewis-McChord serving a
variety of roles including commercial sponsorship director and
sponsorship and advertising coordinator.
This will be the second time around at AWB for Neiswanger,
who worked in AWB’s Membership department in 2013 and
2014. She was most recently at the state Department of Labor &
Industries where she organized and prepared educational events
to promote safety and health in the workplace.
Stephanie Hemphill, AWB’s Director of Member Relations
& Events for the last four years, is transitioning to a new role
outside of AWB but will work alongside Michael in a part-time
capacity through the end of October.
