Canyon Creek Cabinet Company
For Canyon Creek, being a green company is about more than offering sustainable products— it’ s about constantly becoming more efficient in the entire production process.
product: Founded in 1981, Canyon Creek manufactures affordable, quality custom cabinets, from its framed and frameless cabinetry lines to its Closets Plus organizational components. The company has twice earned the Washington State Governor’ s Award for Sustainable Practices, as well as numerous AWB environmental awards.
innovative environmental stewardship: From its certified Environmentally Preferred Product wood sourcing to recognition by the Environmental Protection Agency for excellence and leadership in pollution prevention, Canyon Creek keeps sustainability in mind throughout the production process. The company recycles its wood waste and turns its leftover solvents into new products for resale. It upgraded its truck fleet to clean idle technology and all of its products comply with tough California Air Resources Board formaldehyde emissions limits.
As a large manufacturer with varied energy needs, Canyon Creek Cabinets works closely with its energy provider, Snohomish County PUD, to find ways to save energy and reduce power usage. Working together over the past year, in early 2017 the company finished an LED retrofit to the entire lighting system, inside and outside the 285,000-square-foot factory and showroom. The upgrades will reduce lighting energy usage by 56 percent.
in their own words:“ Canyon Creek is excited to be at the forefront of sustainability efforts in the kitchen cabinet industry, being the first business nationwide to be certified in the Environmental Stewardship Program by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association. Our commitment is not just good for the environment, it’ s also good for business, helping to lower our costs and drive new revenue.”
