Small Business Outreach Tour Visits 15 Cities to Prepare Small
Business Agenda for 2017 Legislative Session
Small businesses are the heart of AWB
— 92 percent of AWB members have
fewer than 100 employees. The amount of
knowledge among our thousands of small
employer members is significant, and AWB
is sharing the perspective — and the needs
— of small businesses from across the state
with the Legislature.

Gary Chandler, AWB vice president, government affairs, said his own experience as a
small-business owner has shown him how crucial effective advocacy in Olympia is for familyowned and other small employers.
“Your voice is critical in creating meaningful legislation for Washington’s small-business
owners,” Chandler said.

Chandler, who has been serving
on the board while pending
full confirmation, told a Senate
committee that he was honored to serve on a board that had such a meaningful and
important purpose for the state’s economy and workers.
The feeling is mutual: In a tweet after the Senate Committee confirmation vote, the
Workforce Board said, “We are grateful to be represented by a tremendous advocate
for business.”
