Federal Issues, Workforce, Economics at the Fore at Spring Meeting
AWB’ s Spring Meeting returned to Vancouver in May, visiting a a city that continues to transform around a dynamic waterfront and downtown.
A full house of attendees heard from leaders at the local, state and federal levels about the opportunities and challenges facing the state. A highlight was an evening panel featuring two former members of Congress and a group of manufacturing and business leaders from around Washington.
Seattle FWC26 CEO Peter Tomozawa described the upcoming FIFA 2026 World Cup that will bring six matches to Seattle and a generate at least $ 1 billion in economic impact.
The day also took a deep dive look at workforce innovations, economics and more.
A beautiful reception on the Vancouver waterfront overlooking the Columbia River concluded the day. Craig Weichel, Consulate General of Canada in Seattle, greeted attendees at the reception.
AWB Welcomes Interns
Two college interns have been working with the AWB Institute and AWB’ s communications department.
Ty Sugimoto assisted the AWB Institute as a National Civics Bee project intern, working with team members to ensure an effectively executed National Civics Bee competition on June 21. Born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii, Sugimoto graduated this May from Saint Martin’ s University, earning a degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing and management.
Ariana Wilson, interning with AWB’ s communications team, is helping write AWB’ s weekly Fast Facts newsletter and stories for Washington Business magazine. A graduate of Olympia High School, she is a rising senior at Cal Poly Humboldt in northern California studying journalism and scientific diving.
