Doing Business in the USA Response to a Jan. 19 column, “Buying American Products Creates American Jobs,” by AWB President Don Brunell. During the 10 years of “momentum” in Spokane (1987-1997) we chronicled “Let’s do business together.” It was amazing the amount of connectivity we experienced locally by matching businesses up with local vendors and suppliers, etc. As a result, millions of dollars stayed at home and supported our local economy every year. It’s a simple concept that works. With the computer technology we have today, the ability to connect the dots nationally is possible. So, “Let’s do business together USA.” Thanks for writing the article. Dave Clack, Past AWB Chair Spokane Thank You for Honoring Our Seattle Plant On behalf of the Ash Grove Cement Company, thank you and your sponsor, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, for honoring our Seattle plant with the 2012 Better Workplace Award for Safety. We were pleased to have earned the recognition, and we have begun to challenge ourselves so that we can enter again in next year’s competition and defend our “title.” We were impressed with the luncheon and the video presentation featuring our safety programs; we will share it with our group. Our award is displayed prominently in our trophy cabinet in our main entrance. We appreciate the recognition of the hard work our Seattle team puts in to ensure a safe workplace. Thank you and your members for sponsoring the awards program.
