roughly $ 1,167.90 in today ' s dollars . To some artists , even this price point could be too high . But for others expecting to monetize a work , it could be a small token to pay for the assurance of broad commercialization rights .
Provided artists holding the rights to underlying prior works recall the adage " pigs get fat , hogs get slaughtered ," expect this decision to increase the licensing of copyrighted works .
And if this decision happens to spur the monetization of art to the benefit of creators , perhaps it achieves the goal of the Copyright Act : " to encourage creativity ."
