Bangkok Chefs Imagine Their Dream Dinner Parties
An evening of food , drink and music is one of the best ways to celebrate our relationships with friends and family . To round up the Relationships issue of Wanderlust — and to inspire your next get-together — BKK foodie Samantha Proyrungtong reached out and asked four chefs the same question :
“ If money were no issue , what would you serve at an ideal dinner party for you and a dozen of your closest friends ?”

“ For me personally , an ideal party must be first and foremost sanook , or fun , in every respect . It starts with the not-too-loud , lively and non-stop music with a relatively fast beat . ( Latino tunes preferred ). And the food should be served non-stop too , perhaps as a buffet or a barbecue with a predominance of tasty salads that party goers can munch on all night , without getting too full or sleepy . I love white as theme color — pure and clean — maybe a Midsummer Night ’ s Dream party , full of laughter and light-hearted fun , with light and healthy food to keep you up and going , so you can enjoy the party to the fullest both physically and mentally .”

“ My ultimate spread would be : fresh oysters , sashimi , terrines , and rillettes with vintage champagne to start . Then I ’ d move onto barbecue shellfish and Kurobuta pork . The highlight would be a dry aged , spice-rubbed wagyu rib ( on the bone ), served with bone-marrow bread , pickles and condiments . And for dessert : French cheeses ; quince paste and sesame ; semolina crackers ; fresh fruit marinated with rose geranium ; and moscato and vanilla sour cream .”
