Phuket Art Cafes
The Phuket art scene is alive and kicking. There are many local
studios in the town and surrounding Rawai and Nai Harn areas, and
hybrid art gallery restaurants are on the rise. Here are three places
where you can feast your eyes and indulge your tastebuds!

HOME –
KITCHEN.
BAR. BED
There really is no place like “Home”
on Kalim Beach, just five minutes
north of Patong. This is the
brainchild of Phuket-based industrial
artist John Underwood, best known
for his work at Indigo Pearl Resort.
John’s home was damaged in the
2004 tsunami, so he converted
it into a vibrant museum of art
where most pieces are made from
recycled materials, incorporating
kinetic designs. Come here to see
mannequins reworked as lamps,
giant fans made from wrought iron,
and colorful and playful upholstery.

THE PLACE
chef Daniel Isberg’s international
fare combines Scandinavian and
Californian cuisines with a dash of
Asian flavor. As an expat chef with
a coveted reputation, Chef Daniel’s
resume boasts heaps of global
experience with highlights including
catering parties for Hollywood
stars Sean Connery and Arnold
Schwarz enegger. Now settled in
Phuket, Chef Daniel provides private
catering services and runs Home’s
kitchen as well as Cherngtalay’s
Mexican restaurant and food truck.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Chef Daniel’s inspired creations
are about popping flavours and
eyecatching presentation. Kick off with
an amuse-bouche of wild mushroom
cappucino—a mouthful of delicate,
frothy coconut and mushroom
to whet the appetite. Appetizers
are plentiful at Home—start with
crostini topped with garlic cream
cheese or the Scandinavian seafood
salad. Home’s Wagyu beef carpaccio
with chimi churri is also a treat. The
standout main is the marinated
tenderloin served with cauliflower
cream, farmer’s market vegetables,
and Café de Paris butter. Seafood
lovers can’t pass up the pan-seared sea
bass fillet with a dill and lemon prawn
skewer served with mashed potato
in a tortilla cyclinder. Be sure to leave
room for Chef Daniel’s take on the
classic crème brûlée.
