HUA HIN
Thanks in part to the royal family, Hua Hin has been
put on the map as a great choice for Bangkokians craving
sea and sand. Since the summer palaces were built here,
Hua Hin has grown from a sleepy fishing village to a bus-
tling city by the water, complete with plenty of activities
to keep the whole family smiling.
Sure, you can wile away your weekend splashing
around in the azure ocean and building sandcastles on
the shore, but if kid-friendly action calls, there’s always the
selection of water parks to choose from (Vana Nava, Black
56 WANDERLUST
Mountain Water Park, and Santorini Water Fantasy), Camel
Republic with its thrilling rides and small zoo, the Swiss
Sheep Farm where children can bottle-feed calves and
ride horses, as well as ATV riding for the older ones.
Getting there
An hourly bus service is available from Bangkok’s
Southern Terminal in Pinklao costing 160 THB, and there
are regular mini-buses leaving from Mo Chit, Tai Mai, and
Rangsit. Trains also leave Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong and
Bang Sue railway stations 10 times daily and cost 250 THB,
though the rail journey will take longer
