MOUNT KINEO STATE PARK
This park is located on a large peninsula on the Eastern Shore of Moosehead Lake. Mount Kineo rises straight out of the water with 700-foot cliffs. The park can only be reached by water, with a public launch in Rockwood. Experienced paddlers will find the 3-mile trip to be doable. In the summer, a ferry is available from Rockwood.
There are a few rustic campsites right on the lake, and a few hiking trails to the top of Mount Kineo. Adjacent to the park is New England’ s second oldest golf course with 9 regulation holes.
Day use fees apply and remote campsites are firstcome, first-served. Visit allstateparks. com / maine / mount-kineo-state-park
