in both oil and acrylic and is beginning to explore relief printing .
With degrees in both computer science and biology , Pat has been involved in creating throughout her life . “ I create art because I think in pictures and I love the process of creating . Boom ! Here is something that didn ’ t exist in the world yesterday !” She has received several awards and has exhibited at the Franklin Park Art Center and Hill Center Galleries . She has participated in the Waterford Fair for several years .
Pat notes that , “ From April through October , you can find us on Tuesdays , somewhere in western Loudoun — easels , sketchbooks and cameras at the ready , documenting the county we all love .” Plein-air sessions at farms and historical sites usually include about 30 artists who work in all mediums , capturing the magnificence of western Loudoun ’ s barns , animals and natural beauty .
Pat is focused on growing the membership of the sketch club and is working on the infrastructure needed to support its growth .

Lori Goll , past president and current board member of the sketch club , exemplifies the passion and mission of the club ’ s original founder . She has a true love and respect for nature and loves to create working mostly in pastels . Her favorite subjects include animals , landscapes , seascapes , birds , plants and trees . Lori states , “ I have always loved to draw and paint . After attaining an electrical engineering degree from Virginia Tech and working a few years in telecommunications

I realized that my true love is and has always been art .”
Today , Lori enjoys teaching art at the Great Falls School of Art and privately from her home studio . Like Pat , Lori has had several solo exhibitions and exhibits regularly in numerous juried shows throughout the area and has received several awards for her work . Her paintings reside in many private collections around the world . Lori attained signature status in the Pastel Society of America and is represented by the Seaside Art Gallery in Nags Head , NC .
Recently Lori received second prize in the 2022 Plein Air Easton Quick Draw Contest . Two hundred artists started with a blank canvas , outdoors , at an easel in the chosen

plein air setting . Upon completion , paintings were framed and presented for judging . This year , Julie Marciari-Alexander , Director of the Walters Museum in Baltimore , was the judge .

Thanks in part to enthusiasm the Loudoun Sketch Club has generated over the years , the art scene in western Loudoun continues to be very dynamic with an abundance of talent in the area and easy access to the county ’ s beauty .

Chris Doxey spent most of her career at Hewlett Packard ( HP ) in executive finance and accounting positions . As a consultant , she had an opportunity to work with some of the largest companies in the world . Chris is the author of four books for accounting professionals and currently is on the board of the Waterford Foundation . She has lived in Paeonian Springs , VA since 2003 and is an aspiring artist .
