For the 41st year , the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg put on its annual country fair .

This year ’ s event , held Saturday ,
The dunk tank was a popular attraction . featured a dunk tank , expanded food menu , which included funnel cake , pulled pork , meatball heroes and of course standard fair foods like burgers and dogs . In addition , there were new features for the kids like a mechanical ride , as well as bounce houses .
Mother Nature was on the events side , as it went off without a cloud in the sky amid 70 and 80 degree sunshine . Later on , a chicken BBQ was served , which traditionally has served over 250 dinners .
The event began in 1976 , by Barbara Solan and Mary Sidoti , and several volunteers , like Barbara Cinque and Gail Lewis have been going since the beginning .
“ It ’ s really an event for people to get together and enjoy each other ’ s company ,” Cinque said . “ It ’ s really much more about community than fundraising .”
Also part of the event were 200 donated prize baskets and a 50 / 50 drawing . The event was co-chaired this year by Sam Osborne and Joe Herschel , and was well attended , including Orange Regional Medical Center , which was there to do free health screenings .
Attendees were a mix of old and young and exuded an atmosphere of joy and community .
