Annette Kahrs remembers her first inkling that a drug
Town and

coalition might benefit the Pine Bush area—how the
hair stood up on the back of her neck during a call she
got last summer. The caller had taken one of the Narcan
trainings she set up weeks before and had just used
Narcan, an opioid antidote, to save a life.
“I had this overwhelming feeling about having had a
part in that, but sad too,” she said. Within a few months,

As the Town of Montgomery makes
plans to extend water service down
Neelytown Road to Route 416, the
possibility of providing water and
sewage resources to the Orange County
Airport increases, Town Supervisor
Michael Hayes indicated at a recent
Montgomery town board meeting. The

sewer resources,” said Magryta. “The
letter would give the state confidence

Only two weeks into his new job as the
Shawangunk Highway Superintendent,
Joseph LoCicero is already getting
into the swing of things as the agency
prepares to deal with the harsh winter
weather. At the Town Board meeting on
Dec. 1, LoCicero, who also serves as the
Wallkill Board of Education President,
gave an update on the readiness of his
new department.
While a minimal amount of snowfall
has arrived in the town through the first
week of December, the agency ably dealt
with the slick roads that resulted from
two days of battering rain last week. The
new highway head, who bested challenger
Paul Taylor in the Republican caucus in
September and then ran unopposed for
the superintendent seat in November’s
general election, also revealed that the
highway truck that overturned on Oregon
Trail in July has now been repaired. The
vehicle has been deemed roadworthy, but
the town still plans to replace the truck in
the long term.
The town recently purchased $23,000
