Convicted sex offender charged with rape
A convicted sex offender was charged last Wednesday
with rape by the Town of Montgomery police.
On August 21, 2019 the Town
of Montgomery Police Department
conducted an investigation of
allegations of a sexual assault,
according to Investigator Stephen
Ragni. The assault allegedly took
place between July and August on
more then one occasion involving a
person under 13 years of age.
Police charged Jeremiah C.
Hochteil, 35, of Montgomery with
Hochteil
rape, a class b felony, and predatory sexual assault of a
child for prior convictions, a class two felony.
Hochteil was remanded to the Orange County Jail with
no bail.
The investigation is ongoing with the possibility of
other victims, Ragni said.
Hochteil moved to an address on Berea Road in Walden
in Oct. 2018.
Hochteil was convicted on a charge for sexual abuse:
contact by forcible compulsion on Oct. 31, 2003, according
to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice
Services sex offender registry. Hochteil had forcible
sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl on Nov. 2, 2002.
Galaxy proposes Montgomery Warehouse

on the west side of the property through Bracken Road,
Winglovitz said. The west side of the property will also
have railroad access.
The project will potentially generate between 50
and 100 truck trips per day, according to the project’s
Environmental Assessment Form. Once completed,
operations may take place 24 hours, seven days a week.
Planning board member James Beaumont requested
that trucks not be permitted to use the intersection of
17K and Bracken Road, as the intersection is currently
difficult to use.
“We want you to send all your trucks the other way,”
Beaumont said.

Galaxy Limited Montgomery North, has proposed a
240,000-square-foot warehouse in the Town of Montgomery
between Baron and Bracken Roads.
Winglovitz agreed to heed the planning board’s
request.
Winglovitz said other than fire suppression, water will
be provided by the site’s well, while sewer will require
town hookups.
The project has no frontage on Bracken Road because
the railroad property lies in between the site and the
road, Winglovitz said.
