The plan includes the installation of a treatment building, pumps, accessories and transmission main to connect the Dwarr Kill wellfields to the existing Pine Shawangunk weighs new parking regulations Bush Water Supply. This project is in response to the Orange County Water Authority’s and the Orange County Department of Planning’s goal to protect the region’s existing water supply while meeting the demands of a growing population. Pine Bush has had problems with its water in the past, both in quantity and quality. “We’re excited to finally get this project moving,” town supervisor Charles Carnes said. The project is comprised of two phases. The first phase includes the use of existing test wells to test the water for quantity and quality. If that testing is successful, three production wells will be built within 15 ft of the test wells. The second phase would be connecting the three completed production wells to a new treatment building and out to the Pine Bush Water Supply. If approved, the treatment process will include chlorination and the removal of iron and manganese. The treatment building would be constructed on county land off Hill Ave. Continued on page 23 Detained by ICE S hawangunk D ay Pine Bush business pleads for release of 14-year employee By TED REMSNYDER By LAURA FITZGERALD [email protected] New one-hour parking restrictions could soon be coming to portions of Wallkill Avenue after the Shawangunk Town Board unanimously passed Local Law No. 3 of 2018 - Traffic Regulation during its meeting on Thursday night. The legislation gives the board the authority to set new parking rules for town roads, but the potential changes for Wallkill Avenue parking have yet to be hammered out. Local businesses on Wallkill Avenue, including Sam’s Barber Shop, have been pushing for one-hour parking in front of their stores, as some nearby residents park on the street for prolonged stretches, making it difficult for customers to find parking near their shops. “One Middletown resident and undocumented immigrant Toribio Cervantes faces deportation following his detainment on July 31 by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Cervantes is being detained at Bergen County Jail in New Jersey. He has no criminal history. He has worked for Saft Electric in Toribio Cervantes Pine Bush since 2004, working with three generations of the Saft family.
