Pamela O’Dell, Walden Humane Society Volunteer of the Month for July, was barred from the shelter after an argument with another volunteer.

and embarrassing and I’ve never had the
police called on me in my life, but it was
just completely ridiculous and a waste of
time,” O’Dell said.
O’Dell was named volunteer of the
month in July. She said she is at the
shelter between 20 and 25 hours a week
and has been volunteering for about a
year and a half. She also said the staff
and most volunteers are wonderful work
with and are dedicated to the animals.
Cooper said she was within her rights
to excuse O’Dell from the volunteer
program because her behavior was
a direct violation of the volunteer
handbook.
“While volunteering you are expected
to conduct yourself in a manner which
respects our guests, staff and other
volunteers. However, repeated deviation
from protocol, a consistently poor/
insubordinate attitude or exhibiting
any of the behaviors listed below as
prohibited conduct will likely result in
immediate termination of
