It should be here within two weeks. We’re hoping by the end of the month it will be up and running. We’re already in contact with the electrician, so as soon as that part comes in the lights will be repaired.” Hayes notes that there are multiple reasons for the delay in getting the repairs done, including discussions with the local utility company. “In the winter time when it was brought up, they wouldn’t let you cut the road open,” he said. “So I had a meeting with Central Hudson and we walked the whole thing. They went back and found that we could hook to another pole. So we won’t have to go under the road again. So it will eliminate that connection.” While happy that the project has some momentum now, Leahy has been frustrated with the pace of the light repairs. “They’ve been out for quite some time, since the reconstruction of 84 and 208,” he said. “I believe that was back in 2011. Since the road was completed, the lights have never worked properly. I made a phone call a few years ago and brought it to Supervisor Hayes’ attention because I had gotten some complaints from residents, but because it’s not in the Village of Maybrook, I passed it on to him.” In his letter dated February 29, 2016 addressed to Hayes, Leahy laid out the public safety importance in getting this matter resolved. The street lights “have not worked properly since the remodeling of Exit 5 in the Town of Montgomery several years ago,” he wrote. “Any given night, there are at least eight lights that are not working and have not been for quite some time. The original approved plans for this project included adequate street lights to accommodate safe passage. It would greatly be appreciated if this issue is addressed and resolved so the proper lighting is utilized for maximum safety.” While the lights would not normally be under his purview, Woznick was called in to help because he was alre
