Charles and Shannon Salyer attend
Jimmy’s Truckin’ Tribute, a fundraiser for
the James Holbert Memorial Scholarship
Fund for graduating Valley Central stu-
dents and the 501(c)(3) Jimmy’s Helping
Hands, Inc.
to honor James’ legacy of giving back to
others. The scholarship fund has donated
more than $3,500 to graduating high
school students since 2014, and Jimmy’s
Helping Hands has helped numerous
families and individuals struggling with
anything from medical bills to affording
school supplies.
The event included a scenic country
truck ride, a pig roast and barbecue, a
cornhole tournament, live music from
the Bunker Boys and more.
Diane Holbert said she is grateful to
the community for their support.
“Greg [Holbert] and I are so grateful
for the support we get from our friends
and family to be able to put this event
on, and especially for the support from
so many local businesses with their
donations,” Holbert said. “We look
forward to being able to distribute this
money back into the community under
the Jimmy Helping Hands, Inc. charity.”

Tempers flare at Sailfish meeting

or more designated public locations at

“It’s a disgrace,” Berger yelled, “you
ought to be ashamed of yourself !”
Hoyt disagreed.
“This is not a public hearing,” he said.
“We are ready to deem a document ready
for public review.”
Hoyt said the action would enable the
board to have a document available for
public review prior to the resumption of
the scheduled public hearing on August
12.
Hoyt said once the review process
has concluded, the board must issue a
finding statement that will probably be a
roadmap for the project.
“I’m very protective of the board when
people accuse the board of violating the
pubic meetings law,” Hoyt said.
Berger wasn’t buying the explanation,
calling the meeting an insult to the people
of the township. Finally Hoyt called
for order, and two town police officers
appeared.
“This is not a proper way to act,” Sgt.
John Hanks said. “Let’s act like an adult.”
Order restored, the planning board
completed its brief agenda. It voted
unanimously to declare the FEIS
complete, and then voted to adjourn.
Berger couldn’t resist one parting shot.
“It’s nice to know,” he said, “that you
work for the residents of this town.”
